Freshly Squeezed is a premium quick-serve juice bar, specializing in the retail sale of healthy fruit beverages and smoothies.
Originally conceived as “Orange Cup”, the first retail outlet was opened in 1976 by Norman Larsen, in the Scarborough Town Center. It served freshly squeezed orange juice made to order from a kiosk shaped like a huge orange, seven feet in diameter. The Orange Cup brand grew quickly, with the recognizable kiosks located across Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States.
Over the years, the company evolved based on changing consumer demand and trends. Starting in 1993, Talal Samadi, became the current CEO of the company. Talal and Norman expanded the beverage menu with a variety of exotic fruit drinks, and began collaborating with leading designers to develop a juice bar that would attract the attention of landlords and consumers alike. They introduced the current concept in the Toronto Eaton Centre and the juice bar was an instant success, with retail sales per square foot surpassing all other establishments in its category. True to his roots, Talal can still be found working behind the counter at the flagship location in Toronto Eaton Centre, constantly in touch with customers at the ground-level.
The brand has evolved with customers’ preferences, resulting in new and fun additions to the menu such as exotic fruit smoothies enhanced with protein and a variety of health supplements, together with antioxidant-rich matcha green tea.
